We Will Be Off Line For A While Now
We are about to start our journey across the Gibb River Road heading towards Broome. Real outback Australia. Dry red bumpy corregated dusty roads. We will be all shook up by the end of it I am sure. Signing off for a little while now and will start making some posts again when we can get back online. Heading to ElQuestro today for a 3 night stay. We may get reception there, but I am not so sure.
Day 8 - Kakadu to Katherine
Walked to the top of Gunlom plunge pool for a swim and before the heat of the day made the steep walk difficult. Took some artistic photos of the water using the new wide angle lense.
This photo also shows the upper pool area. We really enjoyed our time spent here. Lachie particularly enjoys climbing over the large rocks. When we finished our swim we hopped back in the car and headed to Katherine. On route to Katherine we stopped at Edith Falls which was also pretty spectacular.

Check Out Our Rig
A couple of you wanted to see how we were getting around this beautiful country that we live in so here it is. We are starting to get much better at the packing up and setting up, we had better as we need to do this many, many times. It can be hard work in the heat but we all chip in so the job gets done as smoothly as possible.
Thank you Berriman family, we would not have had this opportunity if it was not for you and your generosity. We are having an absolute ball and a trip I would recommend to anyone who wants to experience the NT and WA.
DAY 6 and 7 - Kakadu National Park
Oh my this is an amazing place. The scenery is spectacular. We have had to do many km's walking in the heat of the day, and at times you ask yourself is this really worth it! Once you get to the destination every little step over every large and small rock is worth it. With sweat dripping from your brow you launch yourself into a plunge pool that just takes your breathe away. We live in a beautiful country.....and the NT has so much to offer. The sights that we managed to see at Kakadu were Nourlangie Rock which has some aboriginal art painted on it. Ubirr Rock which we saw at sunset and that was stunning. We went on the Yellow Waters Sunrise Wetland Cruise and saw many birds and several crocodiles in there own habitat. So much nicer to see them in their own environment rather than seeing them in captivity. The birdlife in the wetlands is amazing. 1/3 of the Australian bird species can be seen here. After the cruise we drove to our next destination Gunlom, but took a 4wd track to Maguk along the way and it was such a lovely spot to swim, but once again it took some serious leg power to get to the destination but the blood sweat and tears are worth it.We arrived at Gunlom late in the day, set up camp had a swim at the base of the waterfall and the following morning set about making our way upto the top of the waterfall at Gunlom to swim in the rock pools above, and again it was a hard walk boulder hopping but the end reward was lovely. I would seriously have trouble saying which spot I liked best in Kakadu, I am so glad that we decided to come here.

Day Three - Litchfield National Park
Litchfield National Park was just beautiful. Firstly we went to Wangi Falls. Often you can swim upto the waterfall there but it was closed off to the public as they had suspected that crocs may have been in the waters. We did notice a croc catching cage in the water, so thought it best that we just admire the view. From here we moved onto Florence Falls, they too were lovely and we were able to enjoy a swim after a short walk to the falls. Lots of rock had to be climbed over to get into the water, but it was so cool and refreshing after the walk. The highlight for my day, and the kids, was Buley Rock Hole. It was just beautiful, the rock pools were crystal clear and so very deep. The kids had a ball jumping from the rocks with the Berriman family's children. A little piece of paradise in the NT.

Day 2- Aqua Scene and Darwin Waterfront
Firstly we headed into Darwin to do some fish feeding at Aqua scene. We were hand feeding some fish and throwing bread to others. The fish swam right up to your legs and you could even touch some. Mel was not really liking the fish touch her legs, she would squeal then run off. There were hundreds of fish swimming around your legs! We all enjoyed spending the time with Jodie, Tim and the kids.
Then we had lunch - subway salad rolls. SO delicious!
After lunch we went to Darwin Waterfront and had a long swim in the wave pool. We were in the wave pool for 2 1/2 hours. We all had giant blue tubes and joined ourselves up in a big circle. Then the waves came and we stayed together for about 30 seconds and then split up and joined our own circles.
By the end of the day, when our heads hit the pillows we were asleep.

We Have Arrived And Are Right In The Thick Of It
We arrived safely on the 18th as planned and were imediately slapped in the face with the hot, humid Darwin air. We quickly had to strip off a few layers though before moving on to Tumbling Waters Holiday Park. The Park we are staying at is lovely, lots of tall palms provide lots of shade from the sun. Lachie especially likes the "Croc Enclosure" that they have at the park.
We have negotiated our way around Darwin City and taken in most of the sites on foot on the first day. We walked for approximately 3.5hrs, our legs were weary by the end, but we did see a lot in that time frame. Firstly we walked along the beach and then headed towards Darwin Waterfront. Whilst on the way to the waterfront we stopped and looked at the World War 2 Oil Storage Tanks.
Jodie and Tim arrived on our doorstep at 8.00pm that evening and it was nice to see them.
