DAY 6 and 7 - Kakadu National Park

Oh my this is an amazing place. The scenery is spectacular. We have had to do many km's walking in the heat of the day, and at times you ask yourself is this really worth it! Once you get to the destination every little step over every large and small rock is worth it. With sweat dripping from your brow you launch yourself into a plunge pool that just takes your breathe away. We live in a beautiful country.....and the NT has so much to offer. The sights that we managed to see at Kakadu were Nourlangie Rock which has some aboriginal art painted on it. Ubirr Rock which we saw at sunset and that was stunning. We went on the Yellow Waters Sunrise Wetland Cruise and saw many birds and several crocodiles in there own habitat. So much nicer to see them in their own environment rather than seeing them in captivity. The birdlife in the wetlands is amazing. 1/3 of the Australian bird species can be seen here. After the cruise we drove to our next destination Gunlom, but took a 4wd track to Maguk along the way and it was such a lovely spot to swim, but once again it took some serious leg power to get to the destination but the blood sweat and tears are worth it.We arrived at Gunlom late in the day, set up camp had a swim at the base of the waterfall and the following morning set about making our way upto the top of the waterfall at Gunlom to swim in the rock pools above, and again it was a hard walk boulder hopping but the end reward was lovely. I would seriously have trouble saying which spot I liked best in Kakadu, I am so glad that we decided to come here.
